With so many people using the internet, social media marketing, is the next step for marketing. Using the social networks that have taken over the internet (facebook is only 7 years old). Social media gives the ability to get to know a client before they even know what they want. Now we can target clients with a verity of data and demographics. Client communication and site production is why social network sites work so well for marketing.

1) Tracking goals

A lot of people will tell you to set some goals, well this is true and we all know what goal setting is. But to me tracking your goals is just, if not more important. Social media marketing has very much to do with trends. Seeing these personal trends will give you more data to work with. It will also help keep track of the goals set. Making tomorrow more productive than today is what goals are about.

2) Knowing Social Media Outlets

Know what network you are working with. There are so many different social media outlets (i.e. LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Twitter and even blogs), make sure you know how the site works. Pay attention to tends going on. Use the site as much as you can. The easier you can navigate the site, the better client response will be.

3) Personal Product Presentation

Make sure you know your product, but know your self. Because social media marketing is so interactive, you are your product. People are going to see and talk to you on there time. Unlike traditional marketing the clients pick when they see your product. Take the extra time to personalize your site because again it is a refection of your product.

4) Client Engagement

Engage your clients. Never has it been so easy to find leads online but there is a reverse to that, you are just as replaceable. Take the time to speak with them. Get to know them and let them get to know you. Social media is all about personal encounters with out being in person, so be personable.

5) Continued Creativity

Continued creativity. Social media marketing, is like marketing anywhere. You have to keep trying new ideas, new tactics to get clients hooked. Don't get set in one type of procedure, or even one social media outlet. Creative differences in your approach will keep your company fresh but also expose yourself a variety of clientele.
